Update

Well, I am starting to build my backlinks. I am currently thinking creatively and looking for free ways to bring up my backlink count. I found a few websites just by searching on google "free backlinks". After a month or so thinking creatively I will start to pay to have hundreds of more backlinks. But for right now, I am sticking to as free as I can get. How much money have I spent so far? None. Not a penny. The website is just a few days old, so eventually I will have to pay some money to get some good SEO started. But for right now, free is fine.

Sandbox?

What is a sandbox, you may be asking. Well a sandbox is a time period that every website must go through to have its keywords shown in search engines. How long? Well the general time throw out there is 9 months, but of course the more competitive keywords the longer it will take.

Most people look at it as a bad thing, when really it can be taken in a good way. This website, as an example, wont have 100% of its information ready until a few months. So it is a good time for websites to get their content (which as we discussed is very important.) ready for their users.

That pretty much sums up sandboxes. Just know you cant avoid them and everyone goes through them.

Some SEO myths

Matt Cutts answers Google questions:
- Myths: 1) sites on the same server, 2) IP, or 2) including off-domain JavaScript
- Launching sites with millions of pages: how should I do it best?
- Google images: updates on the horizon, and current Google Images technology

I figured this video would be useful to the most of you. Just watch, and it will clear some questions about SEO for you.

Update

Some of you may have been waiting for this. As of this moment I have finished todays updating for the website. Let me list what I have done:

  1. Added the website to related directories (even more)
  2. Added my website to the signatures of my forum users.
  3. Added a lot more content to the website and some outbound links.
  4. Advertised some free blog services to a forum.

See, thats not to complicated. However my traffic has doubled today what it was yesterday. And the day before that it is 7x higher. So I am slowly growing. This does not mean I have 100's of unique visitors a day, however it means I am growing. Soon I will have to pay money to get this website going even faster, I will try to set a budget and I will update you when I come up with a plan. See you soon,

PR and what it means

Definitions of Page Rank on the Web:

  • Devised by Google, it measures not only how many links point to a website, but the "quality" of the sites providing the links.
    www.totheweb.com/learning_center/seo_glossary.html

  • Well, that is PR in a nutshell. PR stands for page rank, and if you have google tool bar you see it on every web page. Or at least have the potential to see it. Some websites (like this one on the time of this post) are PR 0. Lets go over some simple questions.

    Why do I want PR?

Well if you plan on selling links to your website, people really want to know if your website is high quality. And since PR is pretty much just finding out how good of a website you are, people use PR to figure the price they should charge, among a few other factors. PR is also one of the many things google uses to find out where to put you in the search engine.

    How do I get PR?

While no single person who is no google knows every single way google uses to find out PR, the main things it looks at are these:

    1. Amount of Inbound Links (backlinks).
    2. The relevance of the websites the backlinks are coming from.
    3. The quality of the website the backlinks are coming from.
    4. Amount of Outbound links.
    5. The relevance of the website your website is linking to.
    6. Content (related to keywords).
    7. Amount of pages on website with good content.

This is all I can think of at the moment. I am sure there are more. PR is in essence a vote of every single web page on the internet on how good your web page is. The average PR for a website that is of good quality is at least PR 3. The higher the better. The only 10/10 PR rank website I can find is google itself. The highest PR rank I have seen is 7/10. The most common PR rank I have seen is 3/10. You will find it is hard to get PR, but it can bring up your price on link sales fairly high.

    An example for content

Now, I have a blog that I used mainly for a test. It does not have many backlinks, in fact only three. Defined by google:

Definitions of backlink on the Web:

  • Backlink's are links that are directed towards your website. Also knows as Inbound links (IBL's).

  • Backlinks are one of the many factors used in SEO. Most websites have hundreds even thousands of backlinks. Now I tried to see what would happen if I just loaded the website with content. Now this particular nitch was funny news, and the blog was called almost news. However when you search for funny news, its not even close to the front. But try searching for almost news. Its #3 in google. Now I think that if I was to get rid of all the content, it would drop faster than a duck shot with a shotgun in mid flight. What makes me think this? Well it was not even in the first five pages when I first started that blog, and now with 20+ posts on topics and news information its suddenly #3. Good enough proof for me.

So content= very important. Also you might notice the post under this one, that was one of my ideas. Now That is content related to this website, therefor it will help it in SEO. Notice I reviewed it and gave some links out to it, that will also help me SEO a little. This costs me no money, and it actually helps the website I reviewed because of the links to it and the review I gave it. It is a good website, I don't just guess. So its a win/win situation for the both of us. Most blogs charge people to do that, and since I needed content, I did it free and got a response fast to my offer. Its ideas like that, that will help you.

Ok, thats a good example, we will see what comes up next. I will talk about PR I think, see you soon.

    Content

If you know the smallest thing about SEO, you will know that any good website needs good content to get the search engines paying attention to them. Now, for a blog content is usually not that hard to do as long as you have a topic that is full of information. So now I am on the search for content for my website. Sometimes it will cost money to get an article or anything of the like, but if you think creatively you can come up with a way to get content with no charge. This could be finding a good deal somewhere or writing your own content. Or you can think even more creatively.

    What is SEO?

Well, a great place to start when telling people about SEO would be telling you exactly what it is.

    SEO-
Short for search engine optimization, the process of increasing the amount of visitors to a Web site by ranking high in the search results of a search engine. The higher a Web site ranks in the results of a search, the greater the chance that that site will be visited by a user. It is common practice for Internet users to not click through pages and pages of search results, so where a site ranks in a search is essential for directing more traffic toward the site.

SEO helps to ensure that a site is accessible to a search engine and improves the chances that the site will be found by the search engine.

Now that you know what it is, you know how important it is to have on your website. I am going to use this blog as an example. As of today I have done no advertising at all. Now I am going to tell you exactly what I am going to do next, and by the time of my next post, I will tell you my progress.

    See you then,
